| Darkness into Light |
|
Rivet would like to formally announce our very first exhibition of photographic works, Darkness Into Light. Focused on underground photography, this group exhibition will feature selected pieces from a handful of internationally renowned photographic artists: John Santerineross, Wayne Martin Belger, Chas Ray Krider, Robyn Von Swank, Silent-View, and Gayla Partridge (666 Photography). In addition to showcasing the works of such well-published photographers as Santerineross and Krider, Rivet is honored to present "Yama" by Wayne Martin Belger as the centerpiece of the exhibition. By taking a 500-year-old Tibetan monk skull and encrusting it with gemstones and precious metals while also modifying it to hold two self-machined pinhole cameras, Wayne has produced in "Yama" a truly must see piece of art that completely blurs the line between form and function. Capable of capturing a 3-dimensional image of what "Yama" sees through its pinhole eyes, Wayne uses "Yama" for photographic research into the modern incarnations of historical iconic figures. Previously exhibited only once at its initial unveiling in La Hoya, CA last spring, Rivet is proud to be just the second venue to exhibit "Yama" since its creation and before "Yama"s next scheduled stop at Wayne's two-person exhibition with Joel-Peter Witkin slated for the fall. "Yama", and many of Wayne's other cameras will also be featured on Dave Navarro's upcoming TV program to begin airring Summer 2009. If all of this excitement wasn't enough for one show, Rivet, with an assist from our friends at Columbus College of Art & Design, will be bringing Mr. Belger into Columbus for the weekend of Feb 28th to host a lecture at CCAD as well as attend the final Darkness into Light public reception.
