| Matt Tisdale |
| Columbus, OH |
|
I am interested in process. It is important for me to show Pentimento. Pentimento is the drawing and preliminary paint work that lies beneath the finished work. This is necessary because I allow the viewer to peer back through time to see sequential frames simultaneously within the spatial confines of the canvas. My work is often taken to be whimsical, but in fact the painting always have their point of departure in something observed in the world around me. Thus, my painting, for all of its super-reality, is not escapist.
The art movement that my work best relates to is Surrealism or Superrealism. The defining characteristics within my piece are just as important as the viewers interpretion of my paintings. They advocate that descriptive expression are vital and important, but that the sense of their arrangement must be open to a full range of imagination. Surrealism as a visual movement had found a method: to expose psychological truth by stripping ordinary objects of the normal significance, in order to create a compelling image that was beyond ordinary formal organization. The truths evoke empathy from the viewer.

| Mike Decker |
| Columbus, OH |
|
Mike enjoys toys, jokes, cartoons, video games, and animals. Remembering his youth and all those things that kept him creative as a child are important to Mike. Creating art that does not reflect the innocent fun he had as a child is not what Mike would like to be remembered for doing with his life. He still thinks of himself as a scrawny awkward boy who sets his alarm for the Ninja Turtles every Saturday morning - thanking god it is still on the air!

| Tulula DeVille |
| Columbus, OH |
|
Tulula DeVille was born into a carnival sideshow. She is a product of the Fat Woman and the Human Worm (tragically born without a spine). Growing up, carnival life was all she knew, but after a torrid affair with the two-faced man, she left the freak show in hopes of creating exciting oddities of her own. Miss DeVille is currently scratching out a career as a painter/illustrator/adorable outlaw, by flaunting the absurd in the everyday, the humor in horror, and the brilliance in a well gilded facade.

| Tyler Bohm |
| Columbus, OH |

Tyler's work is focused on modular networks of standardized pieces, which he has more recently been making out of plexiglass using an AutoCAD program and a laser cutter. Tyler studied foreign languages and Soviet history in school, neither of which, he is sad to say, seem to have anything to do with his artwork.
